Corey Waldron, a guitarist who also worked as a barista and roaster in the early 2000s, noticed a gap between drink production and customer experience. This led to the idea of redesigning an espresso machine, which he and bassist Aric Forbing, a machine pattern engineer, developed to fit neatly under the counter.
